NHS & General Practice Programmes 2018-08-28T04:06:57+00:00

“Recent evidence confirms that the volume and complexity of work in general practice have risen considerably in the past few years. The pressure this creates has been compounded by growing challenges with the supply of doctors and nurses. That is why the General Practice Forward View, published in April 2016, contains significant new investment to grow capacity in practices.

However, research commissioned by NHS England also shows that at least 19 per cent of GP workload might be better handled by someone other than the GP. Helping practices to manage their workload better is therefore a high priority.”

These are the 10 High Impact Actions

These are the 10 High Impact Actions to release time for care, that the NHS has identified:

Our programmes are aimed at targeting 6/10 actions.

We worked together with selected practices to understand the challenges and opportunities GP Surgeries face, following working group sessions and trials we have successfully developed the following programmes with demonstrable success:

Reception Frontline Training Programme

Developing the skills and capabilities of Reception staff to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Navigation Programme

The aim of this programme is to assist Practice Managers to build a plan and framework for introducing and/or developing signposting and the navigation process in your practice

Leadership Programme

Workshops designed for new and existing managers, providing delegates with:

  • Tools and techniques to help resolve people related issues
  • Develop leadership and management skills
  • Create and maintain a high performing workplace

Practice Development Programme

This is a bespoke programme, working with practice managers and partners on the direction of the Surgery, followed by needs analysis and strategy planning

This programme can be made up of team workshops, individual coaching and consultancy dependent on the need of the practice

Performance Management System

Our Performance Development Approach & System is a new, tried and tested process for appraisals within General Practice. It is a focused method for development and evaluation rather than a once a year, time consuming appraisal:

  • Encourages individual ownership of development
  • Allows for effective performance evaluation of objectives, skill, behaviour development, career progression & succession planning
  • Aligned to the organisational strategy
